Hi, and thanks for showing interest in the Sterling Annals!
I’m Teo Kuusela, a Finnish published Interactive Fiction author currently residing in Norway. Some three years ago I launched my career with the release of Book 1 in the Lords of Aswick series of interactive novels, establishing a world that, while similar to our own history in many ways, holds the promise of rich and deep stories involving cultures, beliefs, histories, and people all of whom are driven by the need to succeed in an occasionally very dark existence. Now I am in the process of writing Book 2 in the series, which I hope to finish around mid-2018, but I have not been idle when it comes to this world in between these two interactive stories. I have kept digging at the surface levels of Lords of Aswick and the world within, writing short stories, character studies, and vignettes about prominent events and figures of the past that each have powerful stories of their own.
This book - Sterling Annals - is a collection of some of those short stories, focusing on the story of a single family.
Sterling Annals tells the story of the Duchy of Sterling, from a time when it was a mere hope for freedom in the mind of a Varian tribal prince who has been forced under the heel of his more powerful older brother, to the inevitable subjucation of the realm with the rise of feudalism. A lineage is born from the sacrilege of pillaging and destroying a holy site, grown through battles against neighbours and a second invasion from across the sea, and finally established as a strongly rebellious thorn in the sides of Kings who want to unite all the islands of Selonia under one crown.
These stories, while expanding on the world of Lords of Aswick, stand completely alone as a series of vignettes from the long, storied, and violent history of a noble house’s rise to it’s subjugation and require no previous knowledge of the world.
I thank you for showing interest in this short story collection. The five chapters currently readable here are not all the stories I intend to include in the final product. The final collection, according to my current plan, will have seven stories, but I hope the currently readable chapters prove enough to whet your appetite for the rest.
