This will be a small collection of stories and poems that capture the experience of modern Millennials who have grown up with the Great Recession of 2008 looming over their lives. I want to write and publish this collection because while there is a plethora of great literary fiction on the market, there’s very little that reflects these unique experiences -- the existential struggle that all Millennials are facing as we enter an adulthood that doesn’t have jobs or room for us.

There will be five stories, ranging from flash fiction to traditional long-form short fiction with short poems connecting the disparate narratives. The overall length should be about 10,000 words.

The money will ensure that I have the incentive to part myself from my workaholic fever of paper grading and sit down in front of my typewriter and write -- I always put first drafts on paper, either in handwriting or on the typewriter because it helps keep me focused on moving forward rather than editing everything to death. The money will also help to buy typewriter ribbon and paper.
