This book series takes place in a fictional town, in a time long ago. The scene is set in a rural part of France that, of course, is completely made up. I’d even go as far to say that it is a parallel world with a parallel France. Lots of creative license to move around in and have fun. This story is unique to me in a way because the villain I’ve created isn’t like one that I’ve written about previously. My villains tend to have a common theme in my other books, but this one was different for me to develop and quite fun. In a way he reminds of Jekyll and Hyde, but he’s also a lost soul who was burned by his spouse in the worst way. Discovering her affair, he makes a deal with a dark entity from beyond our world to seek revenge on her and her lover. In his haste to make them suffer he doesn’t read the "fine print" of the deal and is paired for eternity with the shadow creature, the Carnivaura.

This isn’t your average deal-based creature. The villain is a complex character caught in an internal battle with his literal "demon" or "shadow monster" and the intense attraction to the females he is drawn to in my novel. He searches for his eternal mate, yet for centuries he’s not been able to find her. In his quest to find his "soul mate" every women he happens upon is marked for death when he realizes she is not the mate he seeks. You find out the inner workings of this "deal" further in the novel. Once they are marked, they are his to torture in their minds until he sends the Carnivaura in to make the final kill and take the woman’s soul. It’s not just an ordinary kill, however. The villain keeps the souls in an enchanted jar where he can further torment the trapped souls.

I combined the words carnivore and aura to make the gypsy legend of The Carnivaura; the keeper of souls, the devourer of flesh, blood and bone. The Carnivaura really has a deep story behind it that was fun to develop & create. I delve into the created lore in detail in part one as the story unfolds and my villain gets closer to finding his eternal mate.

I don’t take it easy on any of the characters you meet and I put them through hell at every turn. While it is a tale of suspense and intrigue about the Carnivaura lore, there are sprinkles of romance here and there as well as downright carnage inflicted by the shadow monster.

I hope that anyone reading it enjoys it and understands it’s pure fiction, that allows the imagination to run free. I am always open to suggestions and keep in mind there is a part two, so some things will be un answered for now in part one.
