Summary of ’Shadows of a Sunset’
A young man, born William, ‘Liam’, Crawford, though he would take several more names over the centuries, was once human, with a small farm, a loving wife in Mary, and a small life in a tiny 18th century English town. Little made his life noteworthy, though he felt he was reasonably happy.
But in one night he lost his whole life, and in recompense was granted another, though now the night would seemingly never end for him. All because he tried to do the right thing. He woke up from the terror that took everything, with Mary and her killer dead in a bloodied stream. Liam survived, water laced with the killer’s blood soaking his mouth. The night left him changed, no longer bound by mortality, or even humanity it seemed, just like Mary’s killer.
His new life begins with Liam in his darkest pit, which only grows deeper and deeper, but through his very long life, he’ll gradually try to claw his way out, meeting extraordinary people, and seeing a world, both supernatural and human, he believed he’d never see.
The novel as a whole is not written in a traditional form, but rather something more closely resembling a collection of short stories, conveying William Crawford’s life, from the night he dies, all the way to the present day.
While these stories contain adventure and fascinating characters, the focus is on Liam’s character and how he progresses over the course of his life, along with the few consistent loved ones he meets along the way.
About me
I’ve been writing fantasy and science fiction stories since I was twelve, with the story above being an idea that I’ve passed around in my head for a few years, but only in the past year or so did it really begin to come together in my mind.
More than anything I hope for some constructive criticism, whether you are interested in pre-ordering or not. Honestly anything would be helpful, thanks in advance.
The book isn’t finished but it’s well on its way.
