Discussion

Since today is the last day for Seismic Girls to reach the quill deadline, I think it’s safe to go ahead and call it: we didn’t make it. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support. If you pre-ordered copies, refunds will be issued. As for the future of Seismic Girls, I will try a few other routes to publication, but its final outlet will most likely be as a self-published title on a certain behemoth online retailer. The manuscript is complete. So is the sequel, for that matter. At this point, I’d just like them to be out there where they can be read and enjoyed in their entirety.

Thank you all again. Have a happy and safe New Year!

Hello, guys. Seismic Girls is halfway through its funding period, so I wanted to let you all know how grateful I am for your support and that I am looking forward to making the complete novel available to you one way or another. If it sounds like I’m dubious it will hit pre-order goals...well, I am. I accept that the lackluster momentum is due in large part to my admittedly lousy marketing skills and the fact that I’ve been decreasing my online presence because of factors that have nothing to do with writing. I’m sorry. I wanted to be better at this. For me, writing has always been the easy part while marketing feels like moving a mountain.

While I’m low on faith that Seismic Girls will fund here, I still believe that it is worthy of an audience. Now more than ever, we need books that subvert tropes, especially with regard to gender roles. We need strong characters of all sexes and races. We need heroes we can root for and villains to hold up mirrors that let us better see our own society’s monsters. Seismic Girls has all of that, so I am confident it will find a home, even if it takes a little longer than expected. For now, we’ll stick it out until the end and see what happens. I’ll upload some more chapters starting next week. Thanks again for joining me on this ride. Keep making and consuming art!

Seismic Girls has reached 5% of its pre-order goal. To celebrate, I added Chapter Three, wherein we meet Zed, a tech wiz with a (very) old soul. Thanks for your support, and enjoy!
