Was humanity flawed from its inception? Is there a deeper reason behind the evil deeds committed on a daily basis? Can a deity truly exist if it is never witnessed firsthand? Just how far can you push a person before they begin to lose faith?

Matilda Bryan thought she understood how the world worked, thought she knew where her life was heading. As is often the case, her plans went off the rails. It all started the night of December 24th, Christmas Eve. This was the night she was visited by God or so she claimed. Friends and family alike called her crazy, skeptical of her sanity. How could it be possible?

Experience changed her, opening her eyes like the fateful apple that altered Adam and Eve’s lives. Matilda drifted from her friends, dedicating her life to god’s will. This went beyond charity, no, she was his blunt instrument. By her hand, humanity would be freed from the serpent whose fangs have clung so tightly to their flesh.

This story oddly enough started in my head from nothing more than a picture I saw online and my own interest in spirituality as well as religion. Image was of a girl with disheveled Japanese style garments, cross wrapped around one of her hands. Made me wonder what the story behind the character was and thus Matilda was born.

While the story is certainly focused on the Matilda and her journey towards salvation, it’s just as much an exercise in answering the top four questions. I’ve always been interested in how ‘evil’ is defined and explained. What better way to explore that than using religion where an overlord of damned exists? I’ve also always wondered what keeps these supposed evil spirits in check. That’s an idea that plays a fairly large role in this book. Those spirits are no longer in check and Matilda feels it’s her duty to purge them from this world.

Currently I only have the prologue to my liking, but you can expect chapters to pop up as time goes on. Hopefully you enjoy what I have so far. If you have any feedback or questions, don’t be afraid to ask.
