Proteus is a direct adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Richard III, as a hard sci-fi psychological thriller. It explores the dark, fuzzy lines between man and machine, soldier and weapon, war hero and warmonger. What does a man who is literally built for war do when the war is over? How does a man function in society when every face he sees is superimposed with a threat assessment? How far will a man go to achieve greatness when denied the purpose his life once held?
Proteus is currently only in the earliest stages of composition, but will be a full-length novel when completed. It is set in the same universe as Tantalus Depths, but is not a sequel or spin-off and takes place in a completely different time and place with a completely different set of characters. Consider the two books to be a part of an anthology setting.
