Okay! So, I’ll readily admit that the tagline above is a little . . . well, confusing, to put it nicely. I’ll attempt to clear up some of that confusion here now:

First thing I want to make clear is that the two works above did not DIRECTLY inspire this work. The two works are simply the two I could think of that fit so closely to the themes in my work, that I felt they fit in the tagline. That being said, there are some parallels.

’White Oleander’ focuses on a young woman’s troubled relationship with her mother and figuring out how her mother best relates to her and the various aspects of her personality as she grows up. That is a theme I would like to explore in this work, as, obviously, the protagonist is literally going to delve deep into her mother’s past to find the answers she seeks -- a mother she does indeed have a troubled relationship with. In doing so, she meets and forges relationships with four men who served as very large focal points in her mother’s life and how they fit in hers now that she is finally getting answers. Here is where you think of a cross between ’White Oleander’ ("fathers" substituted for the various "mothers" of the book) and ’The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’ (her mother’s marriage to her dad and her four lovers).

That being said, this will be a rough, rough draft starting out. Grammar will not be perfect, and since I’m still trying to figure out various points of the story line, any advice, comments, or the pointing out of plot holes would be greatly appreciated! If you’re the type who gets into the grammar and want to point out any mistakes, that will be greatly appreciated, as well.

Thank you all so much for taking the time out of your day to review my work! I hope you enjoy!
