Kalana is Ossirian, a powerful species of immortal beings, and daughter to the Emperor. For thousands of years, she has traveled across dimensions including Earth. On her latest return home, she discovers her twin brother Kalen has done something horrible—so despicable, that Ossiria will never be the same.
Ossiria’s Darkest Day is a dark fantasy story, a prequel to my urban fantasy series, Echoes of Ossiria.
"What does it mean?" you’re probably thinking. Ossiria is a land in an alternate dimension. OSSIRIA’S DARKEST DAY takes place 5,000 Earth years ago, but the bulk of the series is set in modern decades.
Echoes of Ossiria includes immortals, vampires, demons, witches, paladins, and every-day humans. There is love, loss, danger, torture, sex, and blood. Definitely blood. Comes with the vampires. Settings include England, Boston, NYC, Oklahoma, Italy, and Southern California, just to name a few. I have a lot of stories at least half finished in this series. It has been a passion project of mine for many years, almost as long as I’ve been writing fiction. My characters are usually snarky, and I hope appropriately flawed.
Favorite contemporary fantasy authors: Jim Butcher and Deborah Harkness and K.A. Stewart. For paranormal romance, I buy all of Shannon K. Butcher’s books, and I’m reading a fairytale retelling series from Jennifer Blackstream. I also enjoy Tiffany Allee and Sotia Lazu.
For TV, I’m a huge sci-fi/fantasy nut. Whether it’s superheroes, vampires, demon/ghost hunters, or aliens, I’m probably checking it out. My first superheroes were Spiderman, Wonder Woman, and Superman. Die-hard Star Wars and Star Trek fan. Seen every Batman movie and LOVED Batman: The Animated Series. My first vampire show was Forever Knight, the next was Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the spin-off Angel, and I currently watch The Originals and The Vampire Diaries. Been with Supernatural since season 1. Grateful Beauty and the Beast is still on the air. I think Arrow is one of the best comic book character adaptations ever. And then there’s the Marvel/SHIELD universe which is too much geeky awesomeness.
BTVS and Angel have been a big influence on my writing. The first bit of fiction I ever completed was fanfiction, but it didn’t take long to create my own unique characters and worlds. I preferred the spin-off as a show, actually, because of the more adult and balanced approach to good and evil and life. I think the character growth of Wesley is some of the best I’ve ever seen in any medium, for instance. And I’m not ashamed to say a Supernatural episode once inspired a book I wrote in 2007. Other than, I love a good love story, and I’m committed to showing relationships, healthy or not, in my stories - both romantic and platonic.
Thanks for supporting this project!
With the funds raised, I will subsidize my writing. I’m a full-time writer, and have been since 2005, writing in various genres, but it’s tough to pay the bills if you’re not Stephen King or James Patterson, so I rely on my other half for the roof over our heads. I have five books published under another name.
