Who Am I?

I grew up in Barrie Ontario where I married my high school sweetheart and we started a family. I joined the RCN in 2010 and faced challenges throughout Basic Training after I was rolled off my first platoon. Later, when I was commissioned, and moved to BC I passed my initial phase training and was posted to my first ship: HMCS PROTECTEUR. On my first sail on board there was a massive fire in the engine room that we fought for 11 hours in the darkness. The impact of the fire was significant and the ship had to be decommissioned with significant psychological impact. I served for several years on board HMCS CALGARY and then fought to become a Fleet Navigator. Shortly after I passed the course I continued to serve in CALGARY when I was diagnosed with advanced stage metastatic testicular cancer. This is the story of my fight to live through it and through the PTSD that the treatments gave me. This is the story of Onward.
