Hello Readers!

I’m roughly 26,000 words and six chapters into the writing process Of Wood and Stone which is a pretty good feeling.  I’ve got the rest of the book outlined and a pretty good head of steam built so I intend to chug right along with the writing even if we don’t fund.  But how cool would it be if we did fund?  Pretty rad.

I’ve finished the edit on Chapter 5 - Danger in the Wylds and will be posting it up on Friday.  I’ve gotten a few more character sketches from Sylvia and as soon as I can find a good way to upload them here I will.  (I’m trying not to bog down the "About" of the project with a bunch of images)

Please remember to comment on what I’ve written and please please please share the project if you’ve enjoyed it.  Thank you!

Hello everyone!  It’s been nearly two weeks since I’ve sent you and update and for that I’m sorry.  I’m here to remedy this but in the interest of those of you who are future sensitive, MINOR SPOILER ALERT AHEAD!

Chapter Five has turned out to be a bit of a bugabear which is hilarious, because it involves a fight with a bugabear.  Which is the problem.  Apparently, I’m very much out of practice in writing a fight scene and sadly I’ve hinged the second quarter of the novel on what happens in the fight so I REALLY need to nail this scene.  I think I’ve got the framework finished and now just need to add the paint that is descriptors around the nouns and verbs I’ve already written.  The plan is to post Chapter Five next week and get back to weekly updates.

SPOILERS AVERTED!  So, to wrap things up, spoiler free.  Chapter Five should be going up next week.  Should be back to Weekly updates after that.  I’m finding the task of marketing this project while trying to write the book is extremely difficult and maybe ill-advised but I will soldier on as best I can.  If you like what you’ve read, please comment and share the project on all of the social medias!  The more we get the word out, the more I can focus on the writing and less on the marketing.  Either way, thank you all for your support!

Greetings Readers!

Another Friday has come which means another chapter Of Wood and Stone to read!   Things are starting to develop in Chapter 4 and the pieces are starting to fall into place. (Hint: This is chapter the book title came from)  Hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.

Just a friendly reminder, if you haven’t pre-ordered yet, why not go ahead and take a flyer on the project?  If you have pre-ordered, you’re the best!  Want to keep helping the project and make sure this becomes a real-life, actual book?  Why not highlight and comment on your favorite line or quote in this new chapter?

Ok, I’ll stop bothering you wonderful people now do you can get back to work.

Hello again readers!

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend, I know I am still recovering from the madness that is Dragon*Con myself.  That being said, I have been able to wrap writing chapter four and now move on to the editing phase.  From here on out I am in uncharted and undrafted territory so sadly my chapter updates may get less frequent after Friday.  Fear not though, I have other ideas if for some reason I can’t put out a chapter for a week.

I hope by now everyone has read the first three chapters that are posted.  I’ve seen some great comments posted on Inkshares and would love to see more.  Comments, questions, and feedback not only help to make the book better, but it also builds buzz for the project across the website.  Let’s keep this momentum going!

Thank you again for reading!

Hello Readers!

We had an amazing push Monday & Tuesday and now we are within FOUR pre-orders of my 25 order goal by DragonCon.  That’s HUGE!  I can’t tell you all how excited I am that this little passion project is building steam, thank you!

Now for the actual writing update.  I’ve finished writing chapter four and have now started into chapter five.  On the editing side, I’ve gotten several notes on chapter three and today should start digging into putting a bit of polish on it before posting on Friday.

It’s Wednesday so there is a new piece of character art from my wife Sylvia up on the main page.  If you’ve got the time, why not head over and check it out.  While you’re there, maybe recommend the book?  It REALLY helps with getting the book up on the front page.

Thank you for reading,

Hello Readers!

We now have one week of the funding period in the bag and ended with 12 pre-orders!  That’s a pretty good head start but I want to keep the ball rolling.  I’ll be attending DragonCon in Atlanta this weekend and it would be fantastic if I could roll in with 25 pre-orders in the bag.  That would put us at 10% of the pre-order goal in just 2 weeks!  Please keep sharing and passing along the project to friends and family that could be interested in Of Wood and Stone.

By now I hope everyone has had a chance to read over chapter 2.  The scene with the Hedgehogs is possibly my favorite so far (Personally I imagine them with Monty Python in drag accents).  To keep the good times going, I’ll post more character concept art on Wednesday and chapter 3 of the book on Friday while I’m at the convention.

Thank you so much for reading!

Greetings my favorite people!

Ever since I decided I wanted to create some sort of young adult fantasy novel like the ones I enjoyed as a ten year old (a la The Chronicles of Narnia, Hobbit, etc.) I wanted to incorporate some sort of illustrations into the work.  Today I posted the first of several sketches my wife Sylvia created for Of Wood and Stone.  It’s a sketch of Eliza in her fuzzy winter hat and holding her slingshot.  I’ve got a few more in the pipeline so I hope you all enjoy them!

Thank you for reading!

No, you’re not imagining things, I DID edit chapter one and correct some glaring grammar/punctuation mistakes.  Thanks to a few who pointed out the rookie mistakes!  Sadly, I’m a worse editor than I am a writer.

Here’s to fewer mistakes in chapter 2!

Hello everyone!

The project has launched and chapter one is up and live for everyone to read.  I’m frantically wrapping up my second draft of chapter two and will edit the friggin daylight out of it the rest of the week.  The game plan is to post it by Friday evening for you wonderful people .

My goal is to post a draft of each chapter every week.  I sincerely hope you all enjoy the previews and let me know what you think in the comments.  If you REALLY like it, might I suggest you send it to a friend who might also enjoy Of Wood and Stone?

More information to come, thank you for reading!
