Newton's Battery is an intriguing start. Classic fantasy tropes - orcs, elves and alchemical magic - are juxtaposed delightfully alongside a real-world setting and some jarringly modern factors such as plagiarised homework, muscle cars and leftover pizza. At the time of reviewing the book is at an embryonic stage, but on setting and tone alone it's piqued my interest.
