Teresa Fuller just woke up to her 4th tattoo.

Mona Néill hasn’t gotten a new tattoo in months.

Charlotte Brewer’s husband, Ethan, just found out the truth about one of his tattoos.

Like everyone over 16, they all wear a mix of mysterious tattoos - tattoos that appear out of nowhere on their bodies and chronicle the important life events, not of their own, but of the soul mate they have yet to meet. Teresa likes to imagine all the possibilities, coming up with a billion different possibilities for what and who they represent. Mona, on the other hand, has a carefully crafted idea of what her soulmate is like and how the tattoos fit together. Ethan thought he knew everything about Charlotte until he discovered the truth - the story he thought he knew about one of his tattoos is nothing more than a lie that Charlotte has been telling since the day they met.

Still, navigating their romantic lives with only the tattoos as a guide is easier for some but much harder for others.

When Brady Seeger woke up, all of his tattoos were faded, barely visible, except the new one on his wrist - handwritten letters spelling out a name he’s never heard before.
