Maya was one of the first short stories that I shared with other people, but was most assuredly not the first. Before Maya, I had written upwards of fifty stories, none of which I found to be any good, so I scrapped the drafts and saved the ideas for later times. The idea behind this particular story came out of a thought that I had regarding stories that incorporate a young protagonist who’s in over their head, which was that many of them should have a much harder time of achieving their goal. With this knowledge arming me I walked into the first draft of the story that soon became Maya, and is now in the process of becoming a more in depth story that I call: She Spoke With the Wind.
