This is a unique world Sheridan has created as the reader follows a space cartographer through his assignment. It was interesting when reading Mapping Space that so many gems were almost hidden throughout the work, hinting at a much larger world. These gems are successful because they are perfectly delivered in the narrator's voice, which makes me want to read more.

Along the way he’s flushed through a wormhole, his ship is hijacked, he’s captured by and escapes from a primitive race of warrior-women... Wow! I want to know more! :-)
