Longshot came to be from two things. One, it came from a Dungeons and Dragons character I made for a group I play with. D&D Longshot is very similar to the Longshot character in this story, but with minute changes, mainly being that story Longshot hits his target more often while D&D Longshot roll natural 1’s all the time. Two, it came from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The idea of a monster hunter taking contracts to hunt very magical and very dangerous beast fascinated me. So much so that I even went as far as to find Andrzej Sapowski books from which The Witcher games are based on (if you haven’t read them, I highly suggest you do).

What’s up? I’m Troy and I write stuff...

Okay, I guess I should go into more detail than that. I’m a college student stuck in the limbo of trying to figure out what to do with my life, and that’s where this idea for a book came from. I spent two years going to school for my Associates of Arts degree, and a year going to school in a prestigious music school, but I hated it so much I decided to change my focus. Now, I’m trying to write more--mainly short stories and flash fiction.

I started to get into fantasy when a friend of mine lent me his copy of the Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks when I was eighteen. I must have spent most of my free time reading those books--there were times where I spent the whole night from sundown to sunrise reading those books. I must have finished all three books within two weeks and was left with so much free time that I chafed at it. Then my friend recommended The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, and I fell in love with that book--so much so that I’ve read both books in the Kingkiller Chronicle at least five times now (Hey Pat, if you’re reading this, please finish The Doors of Stone soon).

So there you have it. If you’ve read this as well as my "book," then thank you so much. Let me know what you think.
