Hi Kate, I am impressed by your sketch of the mushroom thief. While the poem was good too, it’s really the sketches that caught my fancy. I wonder if an illustration format rather than poems is an option?
So, I’ve been working on another children’s story this past week. Yup, I was changing Ellie’s nappie and telling her a story and... It kind of poured out of me :) So had to sit down and write it as soon as Ellie-pumpkin fell asleep.
It’s called Ellie and the Mushroom Thief. You can read it on Smashwords or on my blog for free.
I’ve also been thinking about making a children’s story collection about dragons (have another story in mind, have to find some spare time to sit down and write it).
Here are the illustrations for Ellie and the Mushroom Thief. As a wise person said, practice makes perfect! Sketch, sketch, sketch!
P.S. seriously considering to buy a tablet for drawing and try photoshop or illustrator.
The little brown snail
Had a little red pail,
And wherever he went
He would leave a wet trail.
Every day he would scale
Garden walls of Ms.Dale
With his little red pail
And would eat all the kale.
But the gale brought the hail,
So the little brown snail
Stuffed his cheeks full of kale
And hid under the pail.
And this is a true tale
Of a little brown snail
With his little red pail
Full of tasty green kale.
