Synopsis

After many nights plagued with mysterious recurring dreams, Calvin Davis, a tired and weary virtual-reality systems expert, starts to unravel a much larger conspiracy between himself and a high-level anti-VR terrorist named Ivan Kotko,all starting with a murder investigation in the virtual world.

Whileinvestigating the death of Nicholas Galway, a man who was almost a nobody,Calvin Davis starts to suspect foul play involving Ivan Kotko, a mysteriousstranger who has just come in to town in order to destroy The Legion Center, alarge virtual reality network that ties most of the Earth at this timetogether. Changing perspectives between Ivan and Calvin, Legionnaires is the personal story of two men who are bound togetherby tragedy, violence, and the virtual world. As events start to turn for Ivan,Cal is conscripted to hunt him down, leading up to a showdown at the Omahafacility - the birthplace of virtual reality.

About the Author

My name is Daniel Barros, I’m a first time author from Dallas. Legionnaires is the culmination of a year’s worth of work writing an interwoven story from two perspectives. Both the dark tone of the book and the thrilling, fast paced nature of it reflect what I wanted to read in a novel - something that has the quick pace you find in most YA novels but with the thematic elements that make it more suitable for mature audiences. My hope is that by launching here on Inkshares I can find an audience for my book that’s ready for something more like True Detective than the average science fiction story.
