Dear Reader,
I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy lives to give Infinity’s Edge a try, because at its core this idea is about just that - how busy are lives are becoming and technology’s every increasing role in this transformation.
I think you’ll find elements of the world both absurd and bleak, but based on what I see in my daily life, I firmly believe that there is some version of the future in which we could give away our hearts, minds, and mortality - what makes us human - to machines simply because they make our lives easier.
There are two types of people when it comes to technology’s role in society: those who are okay with it’s growth and those who are not. As time passes I think we’ll find the former becoming the overwhelming majority. I wanted to tell a story of two people from opposite sides of this future division and how ultimately love - something of an absurd old religion in this world - could come alive again to unite them.
This is my first novel draft so any feedback is appreciated, but specifically it would be great to know if these first few chapters feel as clear on the page as they do in my head.
Best,
Mike
