Set to Move

“It’s been six years I’ve been searching for “The” answer. Being in a perpetual stalemate is not good for business, and it also introduces an even less favorable outcome for mankind. But with your most recent exploration in human tissue modifications, I do believe we can finally overcome this world.” Two men sit across from each other in a large conference room. One is a nervous quasi-young scientist with a “What the hell did I do?” look on his face. The other is an older corporate serpent type executive. Between them was a very large synthetic table, the exec had a PPT (Poly-Photo-Tablet) in front of him. The exec taps on its center twice then lifts it up in front of him as to read off a list. “Many of these items would have this facility shut down. I’d say it’s a good thing the products we make keep everyone on Earth alive. You will be receiving everything here in this file.” The exec pinches off something from his PPT and sets it on the table. A ball forms up where the “file” was placed. The exec rolls it towards the scientist. It stops at the edge of the table abruptly then starts to flatten and spread. Within the span of a second it formed another PPT. The scientist lifts it up to review the file.

“Everything you have requested including things that were rejected at previous appeals are going to be available to you. I have only one term to this arrangement.” The scientist looked up from the PPT, “How can you guarantee I will receive “everything”?” The exec set his PPT on to the table then reaches out in front of him as if to swipe the table clean of spilt salt. The table vibrates, then shifts apart in front of the exec. The exec stands tall and starts walking towards the scientist all the while the three meter wide table parting from his path. He stood in front of the now nervous man and motioned him to stand up. As he did the two chairs and table vibrated, shifted, and then sifted down into the floor as if it were sand. "All I require from you is your agreement." The scientist could only nod. "Good, follow me."

There was no arguing with a man who literally controls the room. The exec led the scientist down the hall and into the center of a four way corridor. This area shows the main sections in the facility. North, was personnel/office space. South, contains materials/supplies and consumables. East housed all the latest patients with company coverage or had some form of influence/value. The west section of the building held quarantined patients with research potential or patrons visiting for everyday health assessments/treatments. But the exec didn't make his way down any of the corridors. He stood directly in the middle of the cross way. "CIM, take us up." A voice answered his summons. "Yes, Director."
