I read so much that I just couldn’t stop trying to write something, my first attempt at a novel was quite inevitable, and it was awful. My second project wasn’t much better, the third was a good project but I couldn’t see where it was really going and the fourth was went a bit too dark for me to continue writing it after about 10k words. This is my fifth and the first that I’ve ever tried sharing with anyone.

I know where this story is headed, I know who the characters are and why they are acting the way they are, I just need to get the story out of me and on to the page, I just need to keep going, I’m currently about 15k in and going strong.

You can help me by telling me where I haven’t explained something clearly. A friend recently asked me why the first two Homian ships failed, it seemed so obvious to me but I just hadn’t written it down, I immediately went and rewrote that bit. I need to keep doing that. I also have a compulsion to keep going back over what I’ve already done and improve it, something that probably isn’t as useful as I think it is, at least until my first draft is fully written (though by now I’ve rewritten the first 12k or so about four times)
