Out of all the projects I’ve worked on over the years, Haven is undoubtedly the nearest and dearest to my heart. It stems from an old D&D campaign I wrote in college where I made the players create character sheets on themselves, propelling Them into this world that I created instead of through a fictional character.
The brief campaign ended after that day, but the world of Haven continued to grow in my own head with entire nations, religions, economics, struggle, technological advancements, and political struggles in great detail. Haven is essentially our world, only with magic taking the place of technology.
Bailey, the protagonist, and occasional antagonist, is myself; or at least what I would like to see in myself. He is the kind of person who would never stand by doing nothing if others were being hurt. He may be a smart mouth who blurts out a few too many pop culture references, but he is a hero in the truest sense; he would suffer and sacrifice himself for the sake of others, even they didn’t seem to deserve it.
Haven is the story of his journey as he gives up everything he knows and everything he is in order to return and save his home world, even if it means potentially becoming a villain in the process. As the story progresses through all 26 books in the series, I hope to grow along with him; and that you readers enjoy watching this growth as well.
