The magic glyphs used by ten-year-old Josh’s ancestors have shown up in his own fingertips, including the rare innate knowledge of the wish glyph. He has the power to make any wish come true. But Josh quickly learns he needs to protect this power from those who would use it improperly.
Josh, along with three other children, is swept into a centuries-long struggle between two ancient glyph writers, Lee and Ani. Lee protects the children. Ani wants the wish glyph for his own. As powerful as Lee is, he can’t protect the children forever. Eventually, they must set out on their own.
Initially, the children are strangers. Each of them is introverted and strange in their own way. Alice is an outwardly girly conjurer that harbors a temper to rival drill sergeants. Check is an excitable enhancer who hides a secret glyph writing lineage. Luna doesn’t write glyphs. Instead, she has glyphs written on her, burned into her skin by Ani himself, giving her powers that not even she fully comprehends. Josh realizes their success lies in the friendship they can build. Without each other, they have no chance to protect the wish glyph’s power.
As they travel together, the children delve deeper and deeper into the vast history of the glyph writers. They meet different types of writers with unique powers, learn how to use the most dangerous and secret glyphs, and even travel through dimensions created by hidden societies of glyph writers. Most of all, they build an unbreakable bond between the four of them that will carry them onward.
About the Author:
I’m Matthew Raup. Writing and reading has been an integral part of my life since childhood. When I read, my mind builds the world of the book in my head, allows me to enter that world and experience it. So when I write, that’s what I want my readers to do. I hope that the characters and story I put on the page help my readers find the world that I’ve created.
I find influences everywhere. Books, movies, television, video games, it all inspires me. I like to think that it shows in my writing as well. Glyph Writers has influences from Harry Potter and The Belgariad, to Stephen King, to George Orwell, to Final Fantasy VII and Assassin’s Creed.
My dream as a writer has always been simply to have as many people as possible read my writing and love my characters as I love them. If you like the idea of Glyph Writers, please, pre-order today! Or send an email to me: matthewlraup@gmail.com and reach out with questions.
