Ulysses Jason MacTavish wants to be a normal eighth grader. Unfortunately, his parents move all the time, he’s allergic to everything on the planet, and he’s just discovered the gateway to a magical world inside a puddle.

But when his uncle is kidnapped, Jason learns he’s a Freewalker -- one of the only people who can travel between worlds and rescue him. With an evil chancellor racing to stop him, Jason and a motley crew of pirates set out to recover a treasure that will not only free his uncle, but grant whomever possesses it dominion over that world and ours.

FREEWALKER is a 67,000-word novel set in a fantastic land where ships sail through wormhole-like flumes, animal-human hybrids battle super-powered shock troops, and the ocean itself is laced with a magical substance called flow, which can be brewed into practically anything. It’s fast-paced, steampunk adventure that will appeal to fans of J.K. Rowling, Phillip Pullman, and anyone who wished Narnia or Middle-Earth were real.

ABOUT ME

I have been writing since I was an eighth grader myself. In 2001, I graduated from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts with an MFA in Film Production. I have sold and optioned several screenplays to production companies, and my writing has received accolades from the FOX Comedy Script Contest, the Austin Film Festival, and the prestigious Nicholl Fellowships. Other projects I’ve worked on include The Bachelor, Design on a Dime, House Hunters, Seriously Funny Kids, and Recipe Rehab.

In 2011, I wrote and produced a feature-length thriller called Fugue that won Best Horror Film at the Mississippi International Film Festival and was distributed by GoDigital. I have also written for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Akron Beacon-Journal, and the textbook Elements of Literature.

Most recently, I wrote and co-directed a short film for YouTube, which you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTNhiqWo6co. To date, it has received over 2 million views. Now I’ve written my first novel, FREEWALKER. Take a look at the first few chapters below, hit that pre-order button, and help make my dream of becoming a published author come true!
