Prologue

She could hear the chaos around her. As the room started to fill up she had to battle one of her most outward peeves her claustrophobia. She felt the room was closing in on her. The static that sounded and decided to cling in the air painted this all a ghastly picture of herself. Practically squirming in her own skin. She dared not to look up. She faced what laid in her hands. She fidgeted with the papers almost dropping them. As the voice echoed sounding out through the room became more characteristically she found herself looking up. A screen popped up with some electronic noise calling out numbers across the board. She looked up anxiously waiting for her number to be called.

"4308.." The voice buzzed out. 5309 wasn't too far off so it seemed. She started to mouth the numbers so she wouldn't forget. Everything seemed to be in order her residence papers, birth record, the usual stuff. She needed to renew her ID card listed in her unit. She had almost missed the deadline. Truthfully she could care less about the schematics but it had to be done. She knew that. Would she spend her entire day in some sort of hellish waiting room that seemed endless? No, sooner or later she'd be back home. She tried to relax her shoulders a bit not to seem too tense.

She laid back in her chair trying to rest her eyes give or take a couple of minutes. "5309 at window 10 please." The voice called out as that gave out her cue as she stood up eagerly wanting to end this trip. Walking down the corridor she saw the curtains drawn almost like it was a hospital which was her initial fear. This is the first time she's ever been to her unit's Sanction Office. She saw the neon sign making her way to the counter. When she arrived she was greeted warmly by an elderly woman. "May I see your papers?" She handed over the papers sliding them through the port. "You have very nice nails." The woman commented kindly with a grin. "Thanks." She cracked a wry smile.

The woman seemed puzzled then as she started to type in the information.

"Why don't you take a seat?" The woman offered as she went to take a spot now facing her at the counter.

In the corner of her eye a bright flash went off that momentarily stunned her. It's like she couldn't see when she could still hear it. The chaos she had envisioned before the madness she feared. Screams going off in every part of the building.

She was blacking out. Losing consciousness slipping away from reality almost as if falling into a dream. The last sound she heard was a gunshot. Ringing throughout the room. She couldn't move. Something was taking a hold of her. The last thing she saw was the sweet hearted woman collapse into a pool of crimson blood as the bullet lodged through her.
