A long time ago, before time as we know it, there was a wizard of great power who spent his days, alone, learning about magic and using it to manipulate the universe as he saw fit. One night a girl who had gotten lost in the woods wanders upon his home and knocks on his door.
Of course, this being a wizards home, it was unusual for anyone to find his home unless they possessed an incredible talent for magic themselves. The wizard takes the girl as his pupil teaching her the ways of magic and raising her as his own.
One day, many years later when the girl was a young woman, she challenges another magess to a duel for the safety of the young woman’s village. After defeating the magess the girl is struck down by a jealous husband dying in the wizard’s arms.
In grief and anger, the wizard draws in an incredible amount of power using it to pull their world into two realms exiling the magess, her husband, and their armies.
Trapping the magic that kept the realms apart into a gem the wizard walks to the coast, climbs into a small boat, then rowed out to sea never to be seen again.
Several thousand years into the future, someone has found this gem and destroyed it causing the world of realms of reality and fantasy to once again become one.
Donathan and Sarah are on a weekend vacation to St. Louis when this happens getting caught in a cataclysmic earthquake that tears the city apart leaving most of the buildings and roads in ruins.
After spending some time in St. Louis, Donathan and Sarah decide that they should hike the distance back to their hometown in order to make sure that their family and friends are still alive.
Unbeknownst to them, the world they thought they knew is now inhabited with person’s and beasts that they thought only existed in make believe.
Finding Home follows Donathan and Sarah as they meet an elf in a gas station, fight orcs on the highway, evade outlaws who would enslave them and discover a brave new world sitting on top of the old one they thought they had known only months before.
Finding home was conceived as an ongoing series that I could stay in one world giving readers a new piece of the story every few months instead of making them wait six months to a year to find out what happened next.
Finding Home Tale 1
Donathan and Sarah realize just how dangerous it is outside of the city when there is no law to keep men from doing what they want. After a fight for their lives leads to a misunderstanding the couple uses the spoils of battle to make their way to a nearby gas station. Once there, they find a new companion who is not from around these parts. Not long after they make a new friend, they realize that they are all inside the hunting grounds of an orc tribe and the orcs are hungry. Can Donathan, Sarah and their new friend keep themselves off the menu?
Finding Home Tale 2
With one of the group poisoned and bleeding out the others have to find a place to hide out while they plan their next move. Once they are inside their new hideout, Froacious tells them about an herbal plant that cures all poisons, but he is unsure if it can be found in this new world. Tyler, the self-proclaimed king, finds two of his men dead and sends one of his Generals out to track their killer. The orcs are licking their wounds after being defeated and have sent out hunting parties to find those responsible. Can the group stay hidden and find the herb that will cure their friend?
Finding Home Tale 3
After finding the herb and giving it to their poisoned friend Donathan, Sarah, and Froacious find out that they are too late. Two members of the group have to watch helplessly as one of them dies. Their dead friend finds themselves in a strange spiritual world full of floating islands and an eccentric man who says he has met them in the past and that he can prove it. Outside the hideout, the orcs have found Donathan, Sarah, and Froacious and have begun attacking. Can the two surviving friends live through the attack and preserve the body of their friend?
The plan has always been to combine three Tales (short stories) into a Legend (novel length).
At the moment I am self-publishing the first three stories on Amazon and Kobo and have written the fourth book which I am letting rest before I start the re-write and editing process. I did not know about InkShares before I published the books.
The stories are already written and can be combined easily to form a novel. I would love the chance to earn a publishing deal so that I can reach more readers who I hope will enjoy my stories.
Please leave me any comments or suggestions you may have. I love talking to people about stories and I look forward to getting the chance to do that with you.
