I know what you are thinking. Why are you not hearing from me? Well it has been a difficult month. I got sick again had a little health scare. I’ve had to reorganize several things in my life. It has been difficult, but the main thing was putting off some promotion for a short time.
Things have been well for activity for bringing people to the page for "Vast Land" as of this post only one order has been placed. I still have hope.
Some of you may see this twice, it will be posted on all dashboards. Two with a link for
Brent’ life is changed, just as he comes out of his shell, becoming the new lead for Jin‘s band. His dreams of finally having a life are coming true. Brett is haunted with visions of bodies that are soon found torn to pieces. Brent soon learns a secret that sends his life to another world that he never imagined to be real.
Vast Land is stand alone novel based off the events that happen from a series of short stories. "Tales From Mist Lake" after a darkness is released into our world. Brent soon learns he has a role to play. Facing off with Mr. Scratch.
This chapters listed now are the rough draft version with only the first chapter being extended to how the story will go. (Still being edited as you can tell.)
As many of you already know "Enter The Phoenix" did not make it to production and those who ordered should have received a refund.
I was not expecting for another contest to arrive so fast. I know most of you follow "Tales From Mist Lake" I would like to say it has been entered into the horror contest.
This is the last time for the year that I will be submitting "Tales From Mist Lake". Let’s see how things go. The link below is for all those entered in the contest.
Journey to the town of Red Bear Texas. Explore Mist Lake in 13 tales of terror. The anthology of Red Bear is one to read, each story stands on its own, but connect to each other one way or another.
It is true. the Campaign for "Enter The ’Phoenix" has ended. While it did start out as part of the Nerdist Contest I had hoped it would reach it’s goal for production after it did not hit top three of the contest.
I will start another campaign after the new year or possibly before. I will try to do one more campaign for "Tales from Mist Lake" first. Possibly around October. Hopefully Crypt TV will have another contest so I can enter in again.
Thank you all so much for your support and following me on this journey. For those who ordered you should get your refund with in the week. If not please contact help@inkshares.com for help.
Hello followers. It’s been some time since I’ve given you an update. 25 days remain. Still very possible to hit that 250 mark. You may be wondering what I have been doing. Well... Going over each chapter for continuity issues, especially when I get to the time travel portion which happens through out the book, but in detail toward the last six chapters.
Things look good on this end. Just keep spreading the word, tell me what you think or what you might not understand so far. I know things get crazy, but that is the way the story goes. You’re not sure what is real and what is fantasy.
Wish I could say more of where the story goes, but it does have an unexpected twist. Or at least that’s how I want it to play out.
So the Nerdist contest is over. Like many I waited to see if they would add any other books to be published. No word on what they are looking for or how they are choosing books if any.
Still the pre-orders go on. Just over 40 days left to order. If it has not hit it’s goal, it will sit back for a while. Allowing me to set up "Tales From Mist Lake"for a paper back option then I will start preorders around September or October.
When that is over I will try to set up pre-orders again for Enter The Phoenix
Thank you again for following along with me on the journey. It has been a crazy road. I was surprised to even finish in the top 35 out of 183 entries. Still amazing considering how many great authors stories were out competing for the same three or more spots.
Things are heating up for the top 10 of the Nerdist Contest. This is a good thing, for some. I am happy to be part of so many fantastic writers. Yes even if by some miracle I do not reach top level or considered in the additional entries I will continue to promote and advertise for pre-orders. Still a long way to go.
So lets get this done. Even if it is not mine, select your favorite selection and get a pre-order. I am reading the top 20 now and will select two to purchase. It will be difficult. I know with so many entries this will be a close race at the last hour.
Side note, part of the fight that happens across time. Takes place at Mist Lake. Read "The Thing From Mist Lake" if you want. This is part of a fight that happens across time.
Things are starting to get crazy for everyone in the Nerdist contest. Even more if you are in the top 10 fighting for the top three spots. With so many fantastic authors, everyone is showing their game so close to the finish line.
I want to thank you all for following. I’m sorry that I did not finish audio for chapter three. I should have the written version of the rough draft soon. Again after this chapter things start to get crazy.
Science and magic joining together to destroy a common enemy. A connections between the two worlds is made, secrets are discovered. Captain DeSoto world starts to fall apart as he learns from the past. Also I hope I have not sent out too many emails to the same person. I am still learning how to promote from the Inkshares site.
The start of a new week. So many new followers for "Enter The Phoenix" I wanted to thank you all for keeping up with my journey and helping where you can with the Nerdist contest for Sci-Fi.
I wanted to give you all an update about the story. Almost 10 years ago I wrote the rough outline on a bus after doing something really stupid. I won’t go into details but I committed a crime. It wasn’t anything serious and no one other than me was hurt (emotionally). I paid for that crime and in many ways still paying for it. I was sad and depressed so I started writing. Much like all my stories it started in an odd place and grew from there.
Originally "Enter The Phoenix" was suppose to take place entirely in space, then when it reached it’s original climax when it was a short story i went further. Then it took another turn involving magic and time travel. Before I knew it it was all over the place. After six months of reworking the story I realized they all worked with the my Villain Autolycus. After those few months I started to rework the story and had to give it a proper start.
What I have posted now is the fourth version of the novel. I do have two others that better clarify what happens. You may be wondering why I don’t post those. Well, they are not typed out so to speak. I work an a typewriter first then I rewrite on the computer. This happens a few times. Not always but still it’s my process.
My main problem is not story format or story telling process, it’s more minor structure and word usage. I like many people suffer from dyslexia I’v managed it before. While I know the difference from "Too" and "To" "There" and "Their" my brain doesn’t always write them down that way when needed. Same with structure as you can tell from my rant. I’ve had three people help me especially when it comes to my short stories. However they don’t feel they can handle a novel.
I hope some of you can look past this and see that I just need help from an editor. That is the real reason I’ve entered into the contest. I may never win, but at least it will get my story out into the world.
So as of now I have the prologue and the first two chapters. I am editing an audio recording for the third because that’s where things start to get interesting. If I do not compete it by Friday I will post the written format that day instead.
Thank you all again for your support in my journey.
We still have a long way to go. It has been a crazy week at home. I slacked on promoting during peek week. I am sure some have taken a look at the chapters I have posted. I’m not sure if I did say these are from the first draft. Things do start getting complex even with the time travel scenes everything happens in order, I decided it best to not jump around making it more complex with the reader.
I never give a year in when the story takes place, but it would be with in the next 100 years from our present. Our main characters are introduced to a new way of understanding technology bordering on magic. There are times they wonder if it may actually be magic.
I hope you enjoy what I have posted for now. I don’t like giving too much away at this time. I’m sure some of you will understand.
