Emma and I have been on this writing journey since 2009. I was in high school at the time, Twilight was huge, and the paranormal romance genre was taking off. Inundated with vampires’, werewolves’, or witches’ cheesy high school love dramas, I grew frustrated trying to find a book - and what I really wanted wasn’t anything on the shelves! So, I decided to write the book that I wanted to read:
Ian McCulloch is one of a clan of psychics that recently relocated to Chicago. His "brothers" and "sisters" consist of Nate, Chris, and twins Lillian and Julianna, and with the number of middle schoolers gone missing increasing, they find themselves trapped in a race against time to rescue them all before it’s too late.
I wrote the first draft, by hand, 9 years ago, and thought it would just be a stand-alone mock-fan-fiction spin on paranormal romance. However, I couldn’t shake these characters, and two more books exploded forth, with a fourth one that got put on hold because I was in college.
Last year, I revisited my original (I’d rewritten and done major overhaul edits dozens of times), and I fell back in love with the storyline, disappointed I’d never made it through the overall arc. I opened up Pages, started typing, and hammered out several thousand words before I realized it. Sequels are currently in progress, and I’m really looking for solid readership and feedback as I post Emma in chapters.
I look forward to hearing from you, and I hope that along the way I can entertain a little. It’s an honor you want to spend your time on my writing, and I wish you happy reading!
