Who am I?

A graduate of Lamar University that double-majored in psychology and English, I am continuing my education and hoping to obtain a master’s degree in mental health counseling. Throughout my undergraduate career, I participated in several creative writing courses, one of them specified to developing the introduction to a novel. Taking these writing courses opened my eyes and made me realize how much my writing improves with each draft I write. I participated in work-shopping and learned how to develop a character the audience will care about and plot how a story should typically be according to Aristotelian principles. I enjoy watching my writing progress and learning from feedback I receive from readers.

Where did the idea come from?

I began writing this story back in 2012. When I began writing the story, I was inspired to begin writing it after reading The Hunger Games. I struggled throughout the years following my commencement. I had never written a story before, so to attempt to write an entire novel all of a sudden was challenging for me. I didn’t know what I was doing, but I just kept writing. Just as Dory said, "Just keep swimming," I just kept writing. The idea of having the story center on a video game came from my love for video games. I thought, "What could I do to make a story about a video game interesting?" Well, for one I decided to do what all gamers dream of doing. I allowed my characters to literally be inside a gaming world. After developing that idea, I rolled with it. I just kept writing and see how the story would evolve as I sat down and wrote.

How readers can help me shape my draft:

How can I make this video game story stand out among others? I want this story to be unique and not simply another video game story. I want this story to be enjoyed by all, not just video game fanatics. My way of attempting to make the story more appealing was by working on the characters. Are the characters interesting enough to drive the reader forth?
