It has been a long, long time since I have sent out an update on Inkshares. That is not to say I haven’t been busy; I certainly have been. I have been busy working on the sequel to "Eden M51." But that’s not why I am sending this update. I wanted to tell you all is that I recently self-published a short story ("Laster") which can be downloaded for FREE at all the popular e-book retailers (Amazon, B&N, Smashwords, Kobo, etc.).
This short story is something I wrote about three years ago but never published because it lacked a cover. Well, last summer I pulled out my (very) old set of acrylic paints and decided to have a go at it myself. While I was a bit rusty, I can say I’m not dissatisfied with the result. It captures the retro sci-fi look I had hoped for. So what is "Laster" about? Here is the book blurb:
"Leroy was never the best student at school but he was never the worst either. School was always about not standing out, not drawing attention to yourself. Especially since his father lost his job and became a migrant worker. But when his father gets relocated to the mines on Mars, Leroy discovers that nothing on Earth prepared him for a world where just the air alone can kill you. And being different from the other kids at school? Well, let’s just say Leroy doesn’t want that. Leroy doesn’t want that at all."
Below is the Amazon link to the story. I hope you all will take a moment to download and read at your leisure. That is all.
The next chapter of "Eden M51" is up, and Commander Hawke and the crew are continuing their journey toward the M51 galaxy. But things never go quite as well as expected.
I know I haven’t been updating as often as I should, but hope that reading a brand new chapter is better than listening to my lame excuses about being too busy.
Hello? Anyone else posting new material this late in the game? Two days left in the contest, a few more than that to reach my Quill goal, hundreds of copies still to sell. Well, for what it’s worth, chapters 8 and 9 are posted.
Whoops. Oh, and I forgot to mention in my last post that Chapter 5 is uploaded.
Things have been really busy. Haven’t been able to spend as much time writing, reading, reviewing, commenting, etc. Can I just say that I am stunned, though, amazed at the talent of the writers in this contest and who have graciously uploaded the content of their stories on Inkshares? I am truly humbled to be among such a diverse talented bunch of writers. I’ve read a few new chapters from other folks I’m following and who are following me and I really need to post some comments on how much I like their stories so far. At this point, I’m not really in it to win the contest, but the people here are so dedicated to improving their art that it is very inspirational for me to be in this mix. Thanks, all.
