Hello, everyone! My name is Joe Rice. I’m a wannabe writer. I am a self-proclaimed mega-geek. A lover of Sci-Fi and too much else to list.

I am very new to anything like this. So please, bear with me.

So let me get into my story "Drudge":

After the murder of its creator’s assistant, a robot goes on the run in an attempt to discover why it is here.

A former FBI agent is brought in to assist in the hunt for this rogue automaton. But he soon discovers that this is not just a malfunctioning robot, but something far more superior and dangerously close to artificial intelligence.

The idea was something that sort of brewed for a long while. I have a general interest in robotics. I love seeing them or reading about them. But in my opinion, most of the ones we see on screen or in literature are very one dimensional. There’s never really much to them. They’re usually side characters or the comic relief. "Ex Machina" was one example of a robot I thoroughly enjoyed. And it was that movie that really kick started my brain storming.

The initial thoughts I had with "Drudge" were various things I want to see happen in a story about a robot. I wanted to see a robot that struggles with why it exists. One that obsesses with death and wonders if it itself can die. The whole "I think, therefore I am" idea. Is it afraid of dying? Or does it just enjoy seeing it happen? I wanted to see a robot that kills. Not because it is programmed to do so, but because it wants to, or it needs to in order to ensure its survival.

I also wanted to see him hunted by someone, or many someones, that don’t quite understand what they are tracking. I wanted these humans to fear this being, but understand that it is too dangerous to continue existing. While they hunt it, I wanted Drudge’s creator to continually implore them to let him live. I wanted Drudge to be like his son.

As far as the science side of this story, I wanted to focus more on the psychological side of science. The science of the mind, rather than anything else. Sure, I’m going to do my best to include other sides of science in this story, but those parts wills be more side thoughts rather than forefront.

If you are interested in this story and would like to see and read more, then what you can help me with is simple: your ideas. I welcome ideas from others. I also welcome any help with the science and research side of this. I have very limited access to internet and a small library in town that does not have what I really need as far as help in my research. So please, throw ideas at me.

Again, I will say that I am very new to anything like this. Never entered a contest or really ever shared any of my writing. I thank anyone that is interested in this story.
