Diary of a Dead Man was the second story I wrote but the first one I was really proud of. I developed the idea while working in a book warehouse. The central character came from thinking of a side character from a previous story and what their life might be like if I continued the story but focused on them.
The end result was something that doesn’t resemble that first story at all but was a lot of fun to play with. Diary of a Dead Man is my answer to the question "What if you were dead, trapped in your body, slowly decaying, and at the intermittent mercy of a monster who latched onto your body when you died?"
Nash is a zombie only in that he feeds on brains, but he isn’t brainless. He’s dealing not only with fighting against an incessant hunger, but the loss of his wife and daughter and the pain that comes from not being able to be with them, even in death.
I hope you enjoy his story. I look forward to your feedback.
Cheers.
