This is a sample of "Day Dream Dog" and it’s inspired by my own experiences of owning and eventually letting go of an amazing friend, Rory Parker, my old Labrador.

By profession I’m a Screenwriter and it’s been a year since Rory has passed. This last year without him has given me time to consider how much of an impact he has made to me and my family.

This book is my attempt, in dealing with the difficulty of loosing a pet, but also celebrating the joy they bring and maybe ponder the mystery of their minds as well.

My ambitions for this project, is to create an illustrative book that has a rhythm not unlike poetry, that’s also great fun to be read aloud. It will attempt to play with classical themes of adventure and fantasy. For Rory himself, within the book he is in fact being partly inspired by the events of the day and the nature of his environment, not unlike real dogs themselves.

For myself, it’s a great opportunity to create some fun, short form adventure stories about a dog and his family that underpin what it’s like to own a dog, but more importantly it deals with it from the dogs perspective.

All that is left to say is that I hope you like the sample and feedback is more than welcome. As this is my first attempt at writing a child’s adventure novel of this type I’m actively seeking feedback.
