DAKKAR is the first authoritative biography of the student, engineer, gentleman and prince otherwise known to the world as Captain Nemo. Newly discovered papers, long hidden in the archives of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle in Paris, have revealed that the Nemo we have come to know only from Jules Verne’s immortal 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is but a shadow of the astonishing reality. Verne’s masterpiece was in truth based on vague rumors, speculation and newspaper reports since Verne had few hard facts to work from---facts that didn’t come to light until 150 years later...
DAKKAR, a unique addition to the Steampunk genre, is the story of Captain Nemo from his origins as the young Indian aristocrat, Yadupati Bhagwan Rao Newalkar, aka Prince Dakkar, from his career as an engineer working with Isambard Kingdom Brunel to build some of the greatest bridges and ships of the mid-19th century to the role he plays in the great India Mutiny of 1857 and the Cretan Rebellion of 1866...and his final confrontation with one of the greatest villains of that turbulent century.
In addition to the main text are nearly 200 illustrations, maps and diagrams as well as extensive annotations in the form of detailed side notes and five informative appendices. These are not merely informative but are an integral part of the telling of the life of Captain Nemo.
