Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
No need to wonder what you are.
Up above the world and sky
Apocalypse falls from on high.

When the blazing sun has set,
And all its memories stoke regret,
Then it shines its little light,
It obliterates the night!

Those who travel in the dark,
Will hear its call, and pause, and hark!
And when one road forks into two,
Its a trap, both lead to you.

In the crimson sphere you keep,
Often through the void do peep,
For eye and stone become as one,
Until the Devils work is done.

To shine so brightly, little spark,
Within your core lurks something dark,
Though I know just what you are...
Twinkle, twinkle, little star.

Twinkle, twinkle, little star.
Oh, How I wonder why you are.
Up above the world so high,
Like the void within his eye.

Twinkle, twinkle, little star.
How I wonder why you are.
How I wonder why you are.

(Read the following in ye olden pirate voice until the last line, then drop to monotone.)

Jack be Nimble, Jack be quick.
One step ahead, that be Jacks trick!
Jack may jump high, Jack may jump low
That secret, only Jack can know.

Jack, be nimble, persevere,
Soon all the world will know true fear!
Jack be quick, and don't look back
Jack knows one word, Attack! Attack!

Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jacks not the hero of this flick
This part in rhyme is quite a kick
My names not Jack, and that's the trick.

Thanks for the support!

Ive looked through a few more nursery rhymes and I'm confident I can string a theme across the separate pieces, but I don't think I can fill a books worth. I'm thinking maybe break out of the rhymes and show Uncle Kryptic and the lil skeletons occasionally and go that route. Alternatively I could flesh out the actual characters from the rhymes and make a series of short stories between rhymes, or both.

I didn't have a general direction when writing the sample it was just for fun.

Think "Tales from the Crypt" after the crypt-keepers retirement, telling twisted bedtime stories to future lil skeletons. What if the crypt-keeper was your great uncle, and now he is babysitting? He tells Cursory Rhymes, of course!

Here is a sample:

Revenge of Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty fell from a wall,
then rose from his grave vowing to kill them all.
Blaming the world for the cause of his death,
he hate and he ate until nothing was left.
He swallowed the bodies of all he could find,
until he had gobbled up all of mankind.
Returning once more to the wall of his birth,
he climbed to the top filled with nothing but mirth.
With a leap and a laugh he fell back to the earth,
knowing it would crack from the weight of his girth.

Diddles dark riddle

Hey diddle diddle,
the cats been riddled,
shot all full of lead.
The cow hit the moon,
which will hit the earth soon,
and that damned laughing dog will be dead!
Silverware,
is self-aware,
and frequently covered in red.
And the fate of the plate,
was to join Dumptys hate,
as a place for the beast to be fed
