I felt like my "About the Book" blurb wasn’t punching the way I wanted it to, so I tweaked it and added a section about the world of Child of Secrets: Athonassyar. I’m also working on some excellent changes to the prologue (mostly inspired by comments and critiques from you guys!) that I’ll post sometime tomorrow.
First, Child of Secrets has had six new followers in the last two days, and a stellar recommendation and review from Robert Batten (author of the excellent Human Resources) and Chrissy Cook (author of the intriguing The Space Between), respectively. Thank you all so much!
I’ve seen a lot of comments on the prologue, but not on any of the other chapters, so I made everything a little more accessible on the main page. Major update coming this weekend, so stay tuned for that!

My plan for this week is to keep spreading the word about this book, both on Inkshares and social media, while tweaking a few things in the writing. I’ll plan to update any changes all at once, on Saturday. I’m also looking for some new cover art, which I’ll hopefully have by Friday.
Finally, I’m going to be spending time figuring out some good incentives for following, recommending, and pre-ordering. I’m not entirely sure what those might be at this point, but I’m determined to come up with something. In the meantime, I would love to see more comments and recommendations! Thank you all again for following!
Because I just kicked off the funding campaign for Child of Secrets as a submission to the Geek and Sundry Fantasy Contest!
I have no idea how I’ll fare in this contest, but I’m determined to spend the next three months making this story the best it can be, and I’m convinced that Child of Secrets is a story worth telling. Thank you all for your support thus far!
If you haven’t already, I would love it if you’d take a look at the chapters I have up thus far and leave your thoughts and (if you like what I’m doing here) your recommendations for everyone else to see!

Update: Two new full chapters uploaded tonight! Discerning readers may note that neither of these is Chapter 2. That is because Chapter 2 is an utter mess right now. The only bits of information from that chapter that are necessary to know for Chapters 3 and 4 are:
1) Asher and Bozhren arrive in Nelok’tan. Asher has bad memories in Nelok’tan, and they have to do with House Magire.
2) Asher and Bozhren visited the manor that they’re going to try to break into. It’s pretty scary looking.
3) Asher saw someone he recognized, and split up with Bozhren to follow her.
That should essentially patch the gap between Chapters 1 and 3 for now. The other part of this update is that I’m leaving civilization for at least the rest of the week, possibly longer, so I will not be available to respond to questions or comments until Sunday at the earliest. I hope you all have a great weekend, and I hope you enjoy the story so far!
I won’t lie, hitting that "make public" button was terrifying. It’s out there now, though. Here’s hoping a few people will enjoy this prologue for Child of Secrets!
