2019: Deeply scarred by a difficult childhood, Sara Sullivan prefers the company of her cat to other people – until she wakes 30 years in the past, the only person who can stop a deadly campus bombing.

1989: Charlie Anderson is a lonely outcast who develops complicated feelings for Sara and has a run of bad luck with the campus bully – which together put him on a path to revenge that threatens dozens of lives.

Sara’s and Charlie’s paths converge as Sara learns that connecting with people is the key to preventing the tragedy. Will her connection with Charlie help her save the people who have taught her to finally trust? Or will she fall victim to tragedy in the past, forever altering the future?

The idea for this novel first came to me in the spring of 1997, as a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As I walked through an older part of campus, I felt the history of the place all the way to my bones, and wondered what it would be like if I could go back in time and SEE it for myself. Would it be as gritty and wonderful and beautiful and dusty as it was in my mind?

The story has undergone a number of metamorphoses since then, but the basic tenet is still very much there and alive. I can’t wait to share this story with you!
