ABOUT THE BOOK

Author Alaric Cabiling introduces his first collection of horror/thriller short stories called, Catharsis, Stories.

Jeffrey Deaver’s collection of stories, Twisted, particularly known for psychological horror and suspense, merges with Stephen King’s Night Shift, exemplifying his unique brand of literary fiction and supernatural horror.

The narrator’s voice fits each character appropriately, so any philosophical discourse about art will reflect accurately with the narrator’s tone of voice, similar to the narrative style behind a story about three teens who play in a band. For the first example, Cabiling uses persuasive language, and for the second, he uses accessible, more colloquial rhetoric.

The real clincher for this collection of tales is the use of Magic Realism to force you to decide between an allegorical truth and an ending with a substantially higher rate of probability. All of the stories include some degree of therapeutic catharsis obtained through the arts, central to the collection’s theme. Also notable is the inclusion of LGBT characters.
