I know horror stories and thrillers are pretty popular these days, but it’s always been my genre of any creative medium. TV shows, books, movies... Since I was a child and first got scared, I’ve been searching for the next thrill.

When video games started getting better and scarier, I looked to the internet to see if people reacted the same way (shrieking and throwing their keyboard) as I did. I found a young man named Markiplier who instantly made me laugh, and as he continued to play newer and scarier games, the idea for this story -- Broken By Shadows -- began to take shape.

I began working at a prison as a correctional officer, and we had five long weeks of training. During breaks and lunch, the idea filled out two notebooks, and the manuscript continued throughout the first five months of my career there.

After letting the story sit for a few months, I decided to look at it with fresh eyes and did a second rewrite of it, entering it into the NaNoWriMo contest. And now, I’m on the third rewrite.

Any comments, critiques, and help are appreciated. Seeing as this is a creative site and everyone has ideas and things to write, do not post any hate, or leave comments that don’t offer any insight or possible edits.

Happy Writing!
