Meet Baldwin Jaeger. He finds things for people. He’s good at what he does and has made a life for himself flying the galaxy and outwitting those who would tarnish his reputation for always bringing home the goods. This latest job is a bit different. He’s off to find something without knowing exactly what it is. When he does find it, will he be ready? Will anyone?
My name is Chris Dusty. I’m a father of five living a quiet life out in the country. But, my imagination has always wondered the far reaches of time and space. I’ve been a reader of Sci-Fi since my early childhood and this novel is reflective of those influences from authors such as David Brin, Dan Simmons, Isaac Asimov, and Robert Heinlein. In Bold Friend I’m bringing to life a future that sees humanity spread among the stars. It’s a life more advanced than our own but easily recognizable. Technology and discovery have allowed us grow in number and leave Earth far behind. Humans are still who they are though and most of the problems being human causes are still with us. Civilization looks to be on the brink of another war. But unbeknownst to most, they are also on the brink of a discovery that could change everything.
I always seem to have a story percolating inside my head. The first few pages of this one were written in 1991 only to be boxed up and tucked away in the closet. As luck would have it, I rediscovered the old yellow legal pad I used for writing down ideas in high school during a recent spring cleaning. The pages were getting a bit chewed and tattered from the years so I decided to transcribe them into digital form. Doing so rekindled the joy of getting the story onto the page and the seed has germinated into the novel that is being written now.
