This story is inspired by characters from my latest Wizards of the Coast D&D Zendikar campaign. It’s written from the point of view of my character ’Octavia’ who is a female Merfolk gypsy brawler (monk class).
It was my intention to breath life into a very diverse character who, I believe, breaks the mould of regular D&D genres.

Octavia is a smuggler’s daughter who has worked most of her adult life in rowdy coastal taverns, getting into scrapes with drunken patrons and earning the respect of the pirate community.

Having lost her mother and brother looting a sunken wreck as a child, hard times have forced her to become the rough around the edges person she is today, ever in search for gold and adventure.

I have had a love of fantasy and Dungeons and Dragons since I was old enough to pick up dice. This story follows a party of ’anti-heroes’ as they are commissioned by a mysterious sect to retrieve a dark artefact from the vastly uncharted isle of  Verdwennen.

It is important for me to add that, whilst the words and story concept is entirely my own, the concept of the isle of Verdwenen and the character names are that of my DM and other party members. So, you’re actually immersing yourself in something truly unique.
