Discussion

Hello Everyone,

I know it’s been a long time since you heard anything from me which probably seems strange since I’m supposed to be working my butt off selling pre-orders. I have not been doing that. In fact, I’m writing today to tell you that I’m closing down the pre-order campaign for Black Cloud. You should all be receiving a full refund shortly. If you don’t, please contact Inkshares and they’ll work it out for you.

There are several reasons I’m choosing to end this campaign. Some are good reasons, some are probably not so good. In short life has been busy and I just don’t have it in me to run a successful campaign right now. There are other reasons but it boils down to that. The book needs work and the campaign needs work. I don’t have the time to commit to either. I thought I could make it work but I was wrong.

So let me just say this: thank you for following the book. Thank you for pre-ordering if you did. I really appreciate the support and I hope this book will end up in your hands one day soon be it through Inkshares or some other means.

In the meantime you can always check out my first book. Which I am in the process of submitting to Audible this week. So hopefully it will be an official audiobook soon.

Thank you!   - Landon

Hello Everybody!

First, thank your for following Black Cloud. I appreciate the interest. For those of you who have already pre-ordered a copy, thank you! For those of you who have not, I hope this sample chapter will convince you!

Listen to Chapter One of Black Cloud: Carl’s Corazon

If you like what you hear please pre-order a copy of Black Cloud this weekend! And please share this with your friends and family on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, real life or wherever else you choose to be sociable.

Remember if you pre-order you get a free audiobook of my first novel, Monkey Business (which has sold over 1,000 copies so far!)

Thank you so much. Hope you have a great weekend!

Hello!

Please pre-order a copy of Black Cloud today. If you do, I will give you a free audiobook of my first novel, Monkey Business. For real. I’ll just email you a download link and you can listen to it this weekend. It’s a funny book, a great weekend listen.

You’ve worked hard this week and you deserve some laughs. Monkey Business will deliver those laughs. It’s like an Amazon Prime delivery service for laughs. 1000 copies sold. 82 Amazon reviews with a 4.5 (out of 5) star rating. Have you seen how much audiobooks cost these days? A lot more than free when you pre-order Black Cloud, that’s for sure.

This is a good deal people. Get on it. It’s Friday, what else are you going to do? Work? Accomplish things? I think not.

Thank you, Landon

Hey Guys and Gals!

So in case you missed my first update, Black Cloud is now taking pre-orders! Hooray! So if you haven’t done so, please pre-order a copy. And here’s what I’m offering as a thank you;

If you pre-order Black Cloud during this funding campaign I will email you a FREE download link for an audiobook of my first novel, Monkey Business!
The whole novel, unabridged, performed by me. It’s a funny book. You’ll get the giggles. The best part is you get the audiobook now! You don’t have to wait. And you get to keep it whether Black Cloud funds or not.

So if you want you can think of it as ordering an audiobook now and getting a bonus second book later. Win/win situation here people.

So please check out the Black Cloud project page to see the promo video, which features a reading of the first chapter. I hope you enjoy it, I hope you’ll pre-order a copy and I hope you’ll share it with your peoples.

Thanks! Landon

Hey early followers of Black Cloud. This book has been a long time coming and I wanted to say thank you for your early interest. In the wee hours of this morning I have quietly launched the funding campaign for Black Cloud. I’m sure you’ll all get an email about it.

I wanted to "soft launch" this campaign because I’m doing something that I think might be a first on Inkshares. I’m giving away a free audiobook of my first novel to everyone who pre-orders Black Cloud. I’m really excited about it. I think it’s a really great value and a great way to entice folks to order the new book. It feels really good to me to do it this way because you as a reader are actually getting something immediately for your money. PLUS you’re investing in a future book. PLUS you get the audiobook whether I make my funding goal or not. It’s really win/win for the reader!

I hope all of you will go check out the updated project page. There is a promo video up now that features an audiobook style presentation of the first chapter. I think it’s a good listen. I punched the "audio" portion up a bit with some music and sound effects. You’ll hear what I mean.

I’m assuming most of you are fellow authors. I hope this experiment goes well. I welcome comments, input, questions, etc. If you guys are able, please check it out and pre-order a copy if you want. In about five days I’ll start the real push for support. I just wanted some time to make sure everything was working smoothly before I started begging people to buy books.

I really appreciate your time and I hope you all have a great day!

This strikes me as a "rubber necker" project.  I can’t look away as I drive by.  Let’s get this to funding book campaign status because I want to pull over and read the whole story!

"I’m trying to imagine the thought process that begins with I need to pick up a few things from the store and ends with I should probably stop in the bathroom real quick and snort a shit ton of oxycodone. Maybe if we can wake this gentleman up I can make some inquiries but right now his respiratory drive has gone night night. Which is just a fancy way of saying his body gives no fucks about breathing. That’s why Tommy is on his knees in the pharmacy section of Publix bagging this dude... "

... that is an excerpt from Don’t Stop Believing. Or Breathing a new chapter from Black Cloud.

Hey Everybody! I know it’s been a long time since I sent an update. My bad. I kind of put this project on hold for a while because my life outside of writing got really busy. I do have a new job and a new tiny human to show for it though, so I wasn’t slacking.

Some of you may know that Black Cloud made the top 5% of the Scott Free Launchpad competition. That means I didn’t make it into the Inkshares contest but did make the top 100. That is a very encouraging start for a book still in its infancy.

If you have a few minutes please check out the new chapter. It’s a quick read and I’m sure it will amuse you at least a little bit. Especially if you’re a fan of Journey’s rock classic, "Don’t Stop Believing."

If you have a few moments please share this project on Inkshares, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, or wherever it is that you share things. I plan to wait until after the new year to launch but as most of you know, building a following before launch is critical. If you can help out that would be the coolest. You’d be the coolest.

Thank you folks for the early support. Oh and here’s a gross amusing video of me being tortured on behalf of this book.

I’m hooked, can’t wait to read more

Hello! You first 65 followers are the best. I really appreciate you all jumping in early and following the book. Honestly, I’ve had so much more positive feedback than I expected. It’s pretty awesome.

I shot a first attempt at a promo video for the book last night with the help of a paramedic buddy. I’m not sure how well it went but when I get it edited I’ll share it with all of you and see what you think. At this point I’m at the "gather followers" stage of the game. So if any of you feel inclined to spread the word, I would greatly appreciate it!

Here’s a little treat for following the book. Black Cloud is fiction but throughout the campaign I thought it would be fun to share little real world stuff from time to time. So here is today’s:

A couple weeks ago a patient had the following exchange with one of our local ER docs.

Doc: "So what brought you into the ER today?"

Patient: "I have kidney problems."

Doc: "Ok, what kind of kidney problems?"

Patient: "Well I had a dream that a falcon swooped down and ate my kidneys so I Googled it and it said that means I have kidney problems."

After the doctor had left the room I asked him what he was going to do. He smiled at me and said, "I guess I’ll check her kidneys."

As a writer it makes me jealous that you I can’t make up stuff as crazy as that. That’s it for now guys. Have a good one!

I really like the tone of the narration so far. The writing is to-the-point and grabs the reader instantly. It does need some editing for grammar and for clarification in a few areas, but an excellent read so far!
