Thanks to the the internet, a small group of late teens and young adults discover that they all have similar rune-like birthmarks. More than that, when they finally meet up, they also find out that each one of them has a special power they’ve never shown anyone else. Once they put together that the runes have some connection to the magic they seem to share, they begin seeking out others like them.
One of them, our main character Andie, has what she believes is the lamest power - the ability to read the runes and understand the secrets they hold. However, her power becomes crucial to helping the others understand, and therefore control, their abilities when one of them goes rogue and attempts to use his power to gain dominance over those without magic.
Amber was raised in a small town Tennessee. She’s been a book lover since kindergarten, and an aspiring author since her undergraduate years at NYU, but she’s just now finally making her way into the writing world. Now, Amber attends graduate school at UCSD in San Diego and, when she’s not TAing, doing coursework, or working on research, she’s fostering the universes waiting to move from her mind to the paper.
