Chapters:

Prologue

Prophecy is a dangerous thing.

Doubtless, if you ask someone- a smart someone- they will tell you that forewarned is forearmed.

The wise know better.

Knowledge is power, yes...but prophecy is not knowledge. Prophecy is the snake in the grass, the wolf in the shadows...prophecy is the death that looms over us all.

War is brewing in the worlds above, and those who meant to circumvent prophecy have only insured its veracity.

Nature, like prophecy, smacks of predetermination. And yet, nature is preferable. It is flexible where prophecy is unbending: nature takes a single trait and provides a number of possibilities for that trait to take action. Prophecy takes multiple actions and drives them one and all to the same inevitable conclusion.

It is the nature of the living to rail against inevitable death.

I, with time running out before the end of all things, sit upon on my decayed throne and contemplate, with all the wisdom of hindsight, whether any of us truly could have subverted the oncoming storm.
