’Beckleton Hall’ is the story of Marling Sunbury, a young woman who was born into a cult led by her father. While also struggling with her religion, gender and sexual identity, Marling also has Beckleton Hall’s many dead ex-inhabitants to contend with when she finds a diary, started by her late mother, that contains the unfinished stories of those who have died within the house. It’s an old school Gothic Horror novel that subverts traditional ideas of gender and sexual orientation in order to create a modern spin on the genre.

  • I’m an English Literature student with a passion for books, in particular horror.
  • The idea came from a visit to the nearby Margam Castle (one of the most haunted places in the country) and an obsession with cults.
  • Tell me what you like from a horror novel! You like the dark, violent sexy horror of Clive Barker? Me too! You like dense mysteries with complex characters? Same! We’re going to get along me and you!
