’Aren’t Your Tired’ was born from a place of saying "F*ck it! I’ma tell a kickass story that makes me laugh, cry, and cringe all at the same time." Did I accomplish that? Meh, I hope so.
Geared towards high school readers, the goal wasn’t to tell another ’Hunger Games’ or ’Twilight’ story. Instead, the goal was to revitalize the art of not only writing but of reading too. It doesn’t have to be a serious thing reserved only for old farts. I wanted ’Aren’t You Tired’ to be a story that doesn’t just whisk you off in to adventure and leave you there, but walks you in to it and says "Look what I made for you! Enjoy, young reader!"
What you’ll encounter on the above ’read’ page is a one-off short story I wrote to get a better feel for the main characters and the world they exist in. It was my desire to play with a new narrative voice and determine if it was worthy of telling the story. Take a peak. Tell me what you think. We’ll see what happens, if anything.
On another note, adverbs are the lazy-man’s descriptors. If you can’t say what you want to say via verbs and adjectives, you shouldn’t be an author.
