To the handful of people that follow, and those to come; a brief update.

Slow progress being made, but progress all the same. I aim to put words on the page every day and have been keeping myself true to this schedule. Slow edits being made here and there, but I am still confident in an early 2019 finish.

That being said, the content has had me slightly worried. This has turned into a dark and sickly story that I fear may not have a wide audience. Death and destruction serves as the detail of many books, but I feel that this context and the realism that surrounds it may be a bit much for most. Even in showing small bits to those around me, the general reaction is stark and obvious; this is a gruesome novel.

That being said, there is an air of optimism. In ’On Writing’ Stephen King had said there is an audience for every story, no matter the nature of it. In the book’s conclusion, I have come to terms with the reality that it may not have a wide reading-base. And I think I am reaching  a point where I know that will be okay, because I know I will manage to reach somebody. Somewhere, in some way, my story will be heard.

And if I miss out on this book being published, at least I told this story in the way I wanted it to be told. With no punches held and without a concern for the critics.

For in the end, so long as I am doing this for myself and nobody else, I cannot be disappointed.

Update time.

My free time has been cut between family, reading and writing. It’s been a blast moving through the story and seeing the characters and the story come into focus. I am on schedule for an early 2019 completion.

As a side note, I have a third-party editor who is looking at the story and has been in communication with me throughout the writing process. I am trying to maintain some positivity from the small amount of feedback he has provided as well as what friends and family have said and utilize it as a creative catalyst. Tough to do. However, I happened to read Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff by Sean Penn this year and... let me say... If that could get published I feel pretty great about my chances.

I also have an artist; a talented and educated woman who has experience in multiple mediums. She also happens to be my cousin. Her name is Anneke and I recommend you check her out: https://www.chambersillustration.ca/

Until next time, thanks for checking in.
