"Adelard’s Tale" is a novella set within the universe of my previous novel, "Prince(ss): A fair(l)y (odd) tale" (https://www.amazon.com/Prince-fair-tale-Sara-Gravatt-Wimsatt-ebook/dp/B08F2V1GMF), and featuring a "fan favorite" (read: my wife’s favorite ;) ) character from it, Irmene the selkie. It centers around a young duke who attempts to escape his responsibilities by stowing aboard the ship of a powerful captain journeying to a Land of the Dead rumored to exist near the edge of the known world. Being that it is my universe, the characters discover not only the adventure that awaits them, but also who they are and what they are capable of. There are strong feminist themes and LGBTQ+ characters, because I like to write what I know and incorporate my worldview into my high fantasy! I am hoping to write four additional shorter stories and turn this work into a central novella in a collection detailing the adventures of Irmene.
