Nathan has a successful life; he owns a tech firm and is about to propose to his long-term girlfriend. All of this falls apart as he catches his girlfriend cheating on him, looses funding for his firm, and is notified that his parents have been in a fatal car accident. During this day of confusion, a man wearing Victorian era clothing and donning a white venetian mask stalks Nathan and drugs him.

When Nathan wakes up from a horrific drug induced nightmare, this man introduces himself as Itzal, a leader of a group simply known as the Brotherhood. Itzal invites Nathan to become initiated into the Brotherhood as Nathan possesses certain desirable characteristics. He promises a new life, one that will give Nathan’s life a purpose. Nathan agrees, seeing a chance to start a clean slate.

Upon their arrival to the large estate of the Brotherhood, Nathan becomes aware that he is somewhere far from modern civilization as everyone is dressed in Victorian era clothing. He is initiated with a bizarre ritual involving being given a female companion, Vivian. Nathan soon realizes that he has been thrown in the middle of a conflict as he is sent on missions to protect the estate and to assassinate members of the Pallide, the Brotherhood’s enemy. It is with Vivian that Nathan uncovers the secrets and true nature of the Brotherhood, and of the other dangers of the world that they exist in.
