“This is what Kymdos came here to find. This is what he was after,” Aboleth pointed to the blood red ruby sitting in Jinx’s outstretched palm. “The relic that could change the world.”
“This stone?” Thom scoffed as he crossed his arms across his thick chest.
“Yes.” Jinx said resolutely. “It’s an Elemental Stone.”
“But they’re just myths,” Faux said skeptically.
“Nay lad,” Aboleth replied, “not just myths. The stones are real and the reason the Fallen One exists as he does.”
“And why magic exists in the world,” Jinx added.
“Well that’s just bloody great.” Thom snorted, his thick eyebrows pulling together as he cast a longing glance at the gleaming gem. “Fine, we won’t sell the rock.”
Faux Falaran is a half-elf assassin who’s been considering leaving the game. When his latest contract goes bad he’s left with no choice but to flee his home and hit the road, but not before the baron’s son ends up dead. Wandering alone and destitute, a chance meeting with a group of adventurers chasing a mysterious religious artifact lost for millennia gives him an opportunity to turn his luck around. With little to no options he tags along on the promise of riches and fortune. And that’s when things start getting tangley!
I’m a long time fantasy reader having picked up my very first fantasy novel, Dragons of an Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weiss and Tracey Hickman over 27 years ago. Over the years I’ve read hundreds of fantasy novels from mainstream to the not so obvious. I’ve always felt that if I let myself take the time I could add a pretty good story to the genre.
A New Dawn Coming is my debut novel project. It started as a background story around the main character Faux Falaran and continued to grow. It’s designed to be a fast paced, action filled, fantasy thriller that will keep you turning the pages.
The book is complete in a rough draft format and I’m currently going back through, editing and revising to create a finished, polished manuscript. It is currently sitting around 116K words and I’m anticipating the finished work will check in somewhere between that and 110K. As chapters get revised I’ll be adding them here. For anyone who follows the book or becomes a reader you’ll get regular updates about my progress and be the first to know when new chapters are posted. Why not become a follower or a reader and follow along as the journey is revealed?
I’d really appreciate any support you’re willing to offer. Whether it’s a review, a comment, or suggestion, I’d love to hear back from you. I’m very willing to return the favour as well if you’d like to hear my thoughts on any projects of yours.
Thanks for getting this far! I’d love to have you along for the ride!
